Artist,
Lorraine Lawson, was born in Liege, Belgium and raised in the
San Francisco Bay area. Lorraine has had been influenced by the
numerous works of art painted by her great-grandfather, Gustave
Flasschoen. "Growing up around the art had a profound
affect on me in a technical way. I would lose myself in
his paintings, studying his brushstrokes, feeling as if I were
there as he rendered them." Some of Lorraine's work
is similar in style and subject, but has followed other paths,
as well. Her abstracts, she claims, are a study in texture
and movement, leaving the defining impression or emotion to be
decided by the viewer.
