“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life”

I’m having the time of my life! To express myself in a visual way has created a balance in my life. Interpersonal relationships in the art community and family support have been the inspiration for my work.  I learn so much from others.  I’m excited about what lies ahead in my journey to discover new styles and techniques.

Artist, Lorraine Lawson, was born in Liege, Belgium and raised in the San Francisco Bay area. Lorraine has had been influenced by the numerous works of art painted by her great-grandfather, Gustave Flasschoen.  "Growing up around the art had a profound affect on me in a technical way.  I would lose myself in his paintings, studying his brushstrokes, feeling as if I were there as he rendered them."  Some of Lorraine's work is similar in style and subject, but has followed other paths, as well.  Her abstracts, she claims, are a study in texture and movement, leaving the defining impression or emotion to be decided by the viewer.
